It’s 4:28 a.m. and I can’t sleep. I’ve had many sleepless nights over the past six months as my mind works overtime always strategizing how to ensure our business will survive. This is true of thousands of other small business owners all over this great country. Uncertainty is a business’s worst nightmare; a nightmare we are all currently living and will be living for the unforeseeable future.
Restaurants are a driving force in New Hampshire, always generously supporting our communities in time of need with fundraising support. The COVID-19 concern is real, and it’s important that you understand that supporting your local restaurants through this time benefits us all. There are over 69,500 foodservice jobs in NH…10 percent of the NH workforce! We must work together to ensure that we can hit the ground running when this time of uncertainty is over.
Our shift began on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. where I attended roll call. Everyone was dressed and on time as the Captain reviewed everyone’s coverage area for the second shift which ends at 11 p.m. They all examined their AR-15s and tested their tasers before getting the keys to their assigned vehicle.
Did you know that 94 percent of restaurants make charitable contributions? Whether to assist with a crisis, boost a community project or start a charitable program of their own (more on this in a bit), America’s restaurants are there to help by contributing food, donating their time, and writing checks. The charitable giving of America’s restaurants adds up to a staggering $3 billion a year.
