At the February 3, 2026 meeting of the Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen, I spoke during the public comment portion to raise a practical issue related to snow removal and winter parking enforcement that many residents experience every winter, and to provide the Board with draft ordinance language for its consideration.
While Rule 3 gives residents the opportunity to address the Board, once public comment concludes there is no structured opportunity for the Mayor or Aldermen to respond until much later in the meeting, often under New Business, if it happens at all.
Although I did not win, I am proud of what we accomplished. As a first-time candidate running against a lifelong resident, former fire chief for the city, and sitting incumbent, earning 35 percent of the vote means a great deal to me. It shows that our message of accountability, transparency, and responsible leadership resonated with many residents who are ready for a more collaborative city government.
This project was not included in the city’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget. That means we are considering new long-term debt outside the normal budgeting process. Before we commit taxpayers to millions in new costs, we should step back and ask if there is a better way to fund it.
