The “model” is one of twelve of us participating in Gemma’s eight-week, A Funny Workshop at Kimball Jenkins. We were instructed to bring a costume we felt ridiculous wearing. One by one we strut our stuff while the rest of the groups serve as the audience, delighting in the absurdity of it all.

The 2023 Concord School District Youth Art Month Show is happening now at Kimball Jenkins, through April 12. The opening reception will take place March 9 from 5-6:30 p.m. and will feature live music from local high school bands, light food and fare and hundreds of works of art by Concord youth and young adults. It is free to attend the exhibition and reception.

A giant sycamore stands tall over the courtyard of the Kimball Jenkins where I am attending a life drawing class. At the end of the drive sits the classroom, an old carriage house converted into an art salon. I join about fifteen other people inside where we grab snacks and finger curiously an array of art supplies laid out on tables.
