The state’s chosen buyer, Robynne Alexander, who offered $21.5 million in cash, missed her Monday deadline to close the deal despite receiving three extensions. However, the group that submitted the next-highest bid after Alexander told the Bulletin Saturday it has let the state know it remains interested in the property.

The sole Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in New Hampshire is a medium security facility for male offenders, located in Berlin. “This is really a consumer protection bill,” said co-sponsor Sen. Shannon Chandley, an Amherst Democrat. “It is not to stymie business in any way.” In fact, Chandley said, she sees it as a pro-business bill to help small venues that are being confronted by people who show up with what they think are legitimate tickets only to learn the tickets are phony.
