The New Hampshire Institute of Arts (NHIA, R.I.P) has been a part of my life since early 1996, nearly 100 years after its inception, when I first studied ceramics and sculpture at the Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences.
With the merger between the two institutions official, NEC will be relocating its graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concord to Lowell Hall in Manchester, as a first step toward expanding graduate offerings in the City. Additionally, the Master of Arts in Public Policy program will be relocating to the Manchester campus.
The combined institution will maintain the name New England College, with NHIA anticipated to be named the Institute of Art and Design at New England College.
The two small colleges say the merger should take about four months to complete.
Sixteen artists responded to the call for COLOR, including four NHIA faculty. A closing reception will be held March 9 at the Derryfield School.

These changes will allow the Institute to redirect resources into its marketing department, primarily in a push to upgrade its online presence and promote the residential living opportunities NHIA offers.
