HB 1205 is a transgender-exclusionary sports ban that would prohibit trans athletes in grades 5 through 12 from playing sports in New Hampshire public schools and clubs despite the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association saying “that it would be fundamentally unjust” to ban trans athletes from participating.

Attorney Patrick Long, who regular Ink Link readers will remember is no relation to the Ward 3 State Representative or the cat by the same name, today announced his candidacy for one of two ward-level seats for Ward 7 State Representative. He has already been endorsed by State Representatives Mary Heath and Mary Freitas. Long has not yet secured the endorsement of the cat. Heath stated she is pleased to support Long because he cares about people and will work hard for the residents of Ward 7 and the people of Manchester.

As one of the few state lawmakers with young children, my efforts to set up our children and grandchildren for success are often met with resistance. Working parents of young children struggle for representation in our lawmaking process, making necessary economic progress infuriatingly slow. Fortunately, a working parent is running for governor: Jon Kiper.

Ideally, I would address these systemic issues by running for a position in the House or Senate. However, the state’s policy of paying representatives and senators just $100 per year means that working-class individuals like me can’t afford to serve in Concord.

There are many important issues the State legislature will be asked to address in the next few years, primary among them are education, affordable housing, and health care. To do this, we need fresh perspectives and legislators who can foster productive and civil dialogue and who act in the best interest not only of their constituents, but for all of New Hampshire’s citizens. For this reason, I will vote for June Trisciani for State Senate.

The “Live Free or Die” state is still dragging its feet on legalizing recreational cannabis. However, the 2022 legislative session offers something seldom seen, a legalization bill with the potential to pass. HB1598, legalizing the possession and use of cannabis, is a beacon of hope for many Granite Staters.

A President Elizabeth Warren would be this century’s FDR

I had been undecided on whom to vote for in the upcoming NH Presidential Primary on Tuesday, February 11th, until last week. As a proud Granite Stater, I take our First in the Nation status seriously by speaking to the candidates and asking hard questions. I strongly believe Elizabeth Warren is the Franklin Delano Roosevelt of our time, and she has earned my vote for president.
