The SEE Science Center will be celebrating game design in March.  On March 8th Family activities will be offered at SEE on Ralph Baer’s Birthday.  Ralph Baer who is recognized as the father of video games lived and worked in New Hampshire and is featured in several exhibits at the SEE Science Center.  In addition, SEE’s adult science discussion series Science on Tap will discuss game design on Tuesday March 10th.

This year marks the centennial year of inventor Ralph Baer’s birth.  Born in 1922, Ralph Baer is regarded as the father of video games and has more than 150 patents to his credit.  He spent the majority of his career in New Hampshire and called Manchester his home for nearly 60 years.

Starting this weekend, the SEE Science Center in Manchester is hosting a number of workshop activities and opening of a new art exhibit to celebrate the legacy of Ralph Baer, the German-immigrant-turned-New-Hampshire-inventor who created the first home video game systems among many other things.

On Friday the entire city is invited to Ralph Baer’s Birthday party at Jupiter Hall where they will be able to play Ping-Pong on a giant 10-foot screen created collaboratively by Kelley Muir and friends she’s come to know and love within the local “nerd” community, including Dave Seah, Ryan Sutton, Roxanne Chang, Sara Ceaser and Sid Ceaser.
