MERRIMACK, NH – One person is dead following a two-car accident Saturday aboput a mile south of the tolls,which closed the southbound lanes of Everett Turnpike at approximately 4:45 p.m.
One vehicle with Massachusetts plates crashed into the guardrail of the high-speed lane.
The second vehicle may have struck guardrail in the high-speed lane before veering to the far right and rolling over, trapping the driver. The driver, pinned and unresponsive, was not transported from the scene in what is an apparent fatality. Merrimack Fire and Rescue positioned fire trucks blocking the scene once the highway was reopened.
NH State Police remained on the scene investigating the accident. A woman and young child from the other vehicle appeared shaken up but not seriously injured.
