2 attempted armed robberies, a block apart, within minutes

MANCHESTER, NH โ€” On Jan. 27, 2019, at approximately 5:57ย p.m., police were notified via 911 of an attempted robbery atย Mr. Market,ย 297 Spruce St. The caller stated that there was an attempted robbery at the store and that the suspect was chased out of the store by a customer who happened to be in the store at the time. The would-be robberย fled the store on foot and was described as wearing all black with a black hoodie covering his face.


As Officers from the Manchester Police Patrol Division were investigating the attempted robbery at Mr. Market, a second 911 call was received for another attempted robbery just a block away.

This time the location was the Maple Street Market, located at 326 Maple St. The clerk stated that aย manย entered the store and pointed a handgun at him at which point the clerk ducked out of sight behind the counter. The robber, still pointing what appeared to be a firearm in the clerkโ€™s direction, fled the store on foot. [Watch in video at top of story.]

The would-be robberย was dressed in all black to include a black hoodie with white stripes on the arms. A track by police with police dogsย  was conducted with negative results.

Police are hosting a free robbery prevention seminar on Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. at police headquarters,ย  405 Valley St. The seminar will be held in the community room.

Manchester Police Chef Carlo Capano, Mayor Joyce Craig and Sen. Lou D’Allesandro will be in attendance.
