MANCHESTER, NH โ Manchester Police arrested two men in the span of two days, one a suspected bank robber and the other, a fugitive wanted by U.S. Marshals for suspected drug sales.

On May 16 police responded to the Bank of New England, 1589 Elm St., at 8:50 a.m. for a reported bank robbery. The bank teller told police a manย presented her a note demanding cash.ย She described the robberย to responding officers and police dispatch disseminated the information to officers on patrol. A subsequent check of the area proved fruitful for Officer Thomas Whelan, who located two men at 9:30 a.m. near Pine and Bridge streets. He recognized one of the men, and felt theย other matched the description of the suspect from the earlier bank robbery.
He stopped Kevin Sigurbjartsson, 28, of Amherst Street, Manchester,ย and Jarod Leroux, 36, no fixed address.ย Following theย field stop, Sigurbjartsson was released from the scene. However, Lerouxย was arrested on an outstandingย warrant out of Belknap County (for sale of a controlled drug/meth). Leroux had no involvement in the bank robbery policeย were investigating.

However, Officer Whelanย passed along the information he gathered from Sigurbjartsson to Detective Justin Mangum, who ultimately connected Sigurbjartsson to the bank robbery and Detective Mangum completed an arrest warrant for Sigurbjartsson, whoย was apprehended May 18ย at approximately 5:45 p.m. as he approached the federal building. Sigurbjartsson was charged with unarmed robbery and was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester at 8:15 a.m. on May 19.
