
SALEM, NH โ State Police are seeking information in connection with a serious accident on Interstate 93 early Nov. 8 that left three people hospitalized with serious injuries.
At approximatelyย 5:33 a.m. State Police from Troop Bย wereย notified of a rollover accident onย I-93 in Salem, just north of the Massachusetts state line.
Troopers were assisted byย Salem Policeย officers, who responded to the scene and ย where theyย found aย 2003 red Ford Expeditionย on its roof down the embankment off of the right travel lane. It was determined the vehicle had three occupants, all of whom sustained life-threatening injuries.
The driverย was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team (DHART) helicopter. One passenger was transported by ground to Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Mass., and then flown to Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Another passenger was originally transported by ground to the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., then laterย transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital. The names of the injuredย are currently being withheldย until properย notification can be made to next of kin.
The preliminary investigation suggests theย Expedition was traveling southbound on Interstate 93 and, for unknown reasons at this time, the driverย lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway traveling through several feet of guardrail before overturning multiple times and coming to rest on its roof in a cluster of trees down the embankment.
Assisting on scene were members of the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks, Salem Police Department, members of both the Pelham / Salem Fire Departments and EMS crews, DHART Critical Care Medical Flight Crew, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
At this time the crash investigation is being handled by the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R. Unit) with assistance by the Troop B, Barracks.
