Plan ahead: Busy parade weekend downtown may mean traffic congestion


MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ It’s not over til it’s over.

Yes, you celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in style on Saturday. But the city is still gearing up for its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade next weekend, plus a couple of marathons and events.

In the spirit of preparedness, the City of Manchester is reminding everyone events that may cause traffic delays and increase traffic congestion the weekend ofย March 24 and 25, 2018ย in Downtown Manchester:


Saturday, March 24, 2018

Old House & Barn Expo
The Old House & Barn Expo will be held at the Manchester Downtown Hotel (the former Radisson) at 700 Elm Street fromย 9-5 p.m.ย on bothย March 24 and 25.

The Millennium Running Shamrock Half Marathon Saturday, March 24ย fromย 9 a.m.ย until approximatelyย 2 p.m..

This event will begin and end at Veterans Park. Many of the roads will close intermittently throughout the course as a safety precaution for the participants. The Manchester Police Department and Millennium Running will have course marshals throughout the course route to assist local residents with navigation through road closures. Manchester Monarchs
The Manchester Monarchs will be hosting a home game against the Adirondack Thunder at the SNHU Arena onย Saturday, March 24 at 6 p.m.ย Doors will open atย 4:45 p.m.ย For more information regarding the game, please

Old House & Barn Expo

The Old House & Barn Expo will be held at the Manchester Downtown Hotel (the former Radisson) at 700 Elm Street fromย 9 a.m.-5 p.m., as detailed above.

Reptile Expo

The Reptile Expo will be held at the Manchester Downtown Hotel (the former Radisson) at 700 Elm Street onย Sunday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Shamrock Shuffle
The Shamrock Shuffle 2-Mile Run/Walk will be held onย Sunday, March 25 at 11:15 a.m.ย The event begins and ends at Veterans Park. Immediately following the Shamrock Shuffle will be the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade atย 12 p.m.ย  For more detailed information about road closures please visit the City of Manchester’s website atย www.manchesternh.gov.ย 

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held onย Sunday, March 25 at 12 p.m.ย until approximatelyย 2 p.m.ย The parade starts on Elm Street at Salmon Street and continues South along Elm Street to Veterans Park. CHaD Battle of the Badges

The final event that may affect traffic will be CHaD Battle of the Badges to be held onย Sunday, March 25. Doors open atย 1:30 p.m.ย and the game begins atย 3 p.m.ย at the SNHU Arena. For more information about this event please visitย www.chadhockey.org.

Motorists are urged to use caution in all event areas as there will be several road closures and participants in the roadways. Motorists are also advised to use alternative routes to enter the City as delays are expected on I-293 exits five (5) and six (6).
