West gets trampled in Hollis

HOLLIS, N.H. โ€“ As Bill Belichick might say, Manchester West is onto Con-Val.

There was little, if anything, positive to point out from their final September contest, falling 49-0 on the road to a formidable Hollis-Brookline team.

The Cavaliers scored on their first eight drives, and ultimately didnโ€™t score on their final two due more to indifference than anything else as their 36-point lead at the half allowed for a truncated second half.

Sander Wimmer threw three touchdowns for the hosts, including one to his bother Quenten, rushing in another two himself. Quentin and Kyle Manley had the other two scpres on the ground.

Through the air, Sanderโ€™s 199 yards more than doubled Westโ€™s team overall yardage total (82), as he also intercepted one of Westโ€™s three passing attempts on the day, with the other two falling incomplete.

Hollis-Brookline Head Coach Chris Lones knew that the Blue Knights came into Saturdayโ€™s contest with two wins and a hard-fought loss against a touted Milford team that gave the Cavaliers fits in Week 1, so he knew his squad needed to keep the pedal to the metal.

โ€œIt was a complete game, we reminded the kids that this is not the Man West team youโ€™ve seen in the past, if you look past them, youโ€™re going to be in a dogfight,โ€ he said.

Westโ€™s Kevin Johnson fell on a fumble in the red zone during Hollis-Brooklineโ€™s last drive to provide one brief positive moment in a day when the Blue Knights looked outmatched on both sides of the ball.

โ€œHollis-Brookline is a way better football team than we are,โ€ said West Head Coach Tom Bozoian. โ€œWhen we come out half speed, this is what happens.โ€

The Cavaliers (3-1) now head to Pelham for a 6 p.m. contest next Saturday. West (2-2) will seek redemption next week on the road next Friday night against a Con-Val team that has only scored one touchdown in its last three contests.
