CONCORD, NH – The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed the identity of the victim who died in the Jan. 1 Union Street apartment fire as Thomas J. Casey, 70, of Manchester. Casey’s cause of death was determined to be smoke inhalation, and the manner was accidental. Four people remain hospitalized, and three people have been discharged.
The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office can verify that there was no sprinkler system installed in the building, and the fire alarm system was operational and activated at the time of the fire.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
