MANCHESTER, NH โ€” New Hampshire dodged the worst of Winter Storm Rileyย โ€” so named by the Weather Channel โ€”a storm that whipped across the eastern seaboard March 2, claiming at least seven people in its wake in the northeast.

Strong winds, which brought down trees and power lines from North Carolina to Maine and knocked out power to more than 2.1 million homes and businesses, also left many people stranded at airports, due to strong winds and snow/ice conditions.

Deaths have been reported in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Maryland, and Virginia, where two people were killed. Two of the victims were children โ€“ a 6-year-old boy in Chester, Virginia, and an 11-year-old boy in Putnam Valley, New York.

Along the New Hampshire seacoast,ย  “angry ocean”ย  conditions forced the evacuations and road closures in Rye, Hampton Beach and Seabrook.

Although spring is just a few official weeks away, Accuweather is predicting another snow storm Wednesday with up to three inches of snow possible.
