AMR October OD stats for Manchester and Nashua

Below are charts of suspected opioid OD statistics for Nashua & Manchester for October 2025. I have also included updated charts of EMS responses to the three unhoused persons shelters in Manchester which look at the number of suspected opioid ODs and overall EMS demand.

October’s opioid OD response numbers were notable for several reasons.

  • The combined two-city total of 35 was the lowest total number of suspected opioid ODs in one month since AMR began tracking them 10 years ago.
  • 17 suspected opioid ODs in Manchester were by far the lowest one-month total since AMR began tracking them 10 years ago.
  • Nashua experienced more suspected opioid ODs than Manchester in a month for the first time since AMR began tracking them 10 years ago.

AMR medics responded to a total of 35 suspected opioid ODs in Nashua and Manchester during October 2025. 17 occurred in Manchester and 18 occurred in Nashua.

Three of October suspected opioid ODs were suspected opioid OD deaths.  All the suspected deaths occurred in Manchester.  There were no opioid-related deaths reported in Nashua during October.

The 35 suspected opioid ODs were significantly below the rolling 12-month average of 46. The fatality percentage was 9% for the month, which was just slightly lower than the rolling 12-month average of 11%.

Manchester is continuing to trend towards ending 2025 with a record low number of annual suspected opioid ODs and is currently 27% below last year in total annual suspected opioid ODs. Suspected opioid OD deaths in Manchester are currently 16% lower than in 2024 and very close to a record low.

Nashua continues to be trending toward a record-low overall suspected opioid OD annual pace and is currently 9% below last year for total suspected opioid ODs. Nashua is currently 26% higher in suspected opioid deaths for this year compared to 2024.

NASHUA OCTOBER 2025

October suspected opioid ODs were well below recent averages and continue to trend in a very encouraging direction. Please keep in mind that due to the nature of the opioid epidemic and its clear history of unpredictability, it is always possible that the trend of lower numbers could quickly change. Overall, the trend continues in the right direction. With Narcan now widely available it is likely that some opioid overdoses are now occurring without 9-1-1 intervention and are not being reported due to rapid reversal.

In NH, anyone can seek substance use disorder treatment by accessing the NH Doorway program 24/7. To access the NH Doorway program, call 2-1-1 at any time of the day or night, or visit www.thedoorway.nh.gov. If you believe someone is overdosing call 9-1-1 immediately.

To help prevent death, it is critical that people who use illicit drugs do not use them alone and have Narcan readily available. Narcan is available throughout New Hampshire at most pharmacies. It is available free of charge from local public health departments & any NH Doorway location. It is completely safe and easy to administer. Narcan is available ‘over the counter’, meaning it is available without a prescription to anyone seeking it.

Please feel free to share this information. As always, if anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!
