Animal shelter seeks adoptive families, donations to help with influx of 80 animals in need

Animal needs continue to increase as local shelter continues to fight inflation, the housing crisis, and post-pandemic challenges.

BEDFORD, NHโ€ฏโ€“ For the past 119 years, Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire (ARLNH) has been here to support our community in times of need. In the past few weeks alone, we have assisted multiple homes across the state that were overcrowded with animals.  After removing 15 animals from one home in Bedford, the ARLNH was also called to remove 24 cats from a home in Merrimack, and another 15 cats from a property in Colebrook. At the same time, an additional 26 animals found their way to our door individually in desperate need of assistance.

The number of animals in the care of the Animal Rescue League of NH is always changing. Every day, animals find homes and more animals arrive that need our assistance. However, adding this many animals in such a short period of time has put a huge strain on our resources.

โ€œWe continue to experience a significant increase in requests for animal surrenders and requests for program services due to financial struggles in our current economy. That combined with a post-pandemic slow-down in adoptions has resulted in animals remaining in the care of shelters for significantly longer periods of time.โ€- Marianne Jones, CEO

The ARLNH understands that times are challenging and finances are tight, but we hope that you will consider donating to the animals as an important part of your monthly expenses. We are here for them because you are here for us. To make a donation or view pets who are ready for their “furever” homes, go to Rescueleague.org.

The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire (ARLNH) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is reliant upon the generosity of donations to help more than 2,000 pets and the people who care for them each year. The ARLNH offers many community outreach programs, including a pet food pantry, low-cost spay/neuter clinics, and Safe Haven temporary housing.ย
