MANCHESTER, NH – The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce announces Michael L’Ecuyer as 2019 GMCC Citizen of the Year. The award will be presented to Michael on April 18 at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner and Citizen of the Year Celebration at the DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown, presented by Eastern Bank. The Citizen of the Year award is an annual tradition of the GMCC which first began in 1954.
L’Ecuyer, president & CEO of Bellwether Community Credit Union (BCCU), has led the company to serve more than 35,000 members in New Hampshire – an increase of more than 25,000 since he became president and CEO in November 2001. During this time, the credit union has grown from $197 million to $500 million in assets and more than doubled the number of employees from 39 to 90. More importantly, Michael has instilled an incredible culture within the organization. He encourages his management team and employees to become involved in community work that is meaningful to them. His leadership style inspires others and he is a strategic communicator. He has a unique ability to get to the heart of an issue and get people rallied around a common goal, using this gift in all his work, with incredible results.
L’Ecuyer’s nomination for Citizen of the Year was championed by Nathan Saller, EVP/COO of BCCU. In his nomination, Saller said that, “Mike L’Ecuyer embraces the role of a leader – inside his organization, in the financial services industry, and throughout the community. Mike’s style can be explained with two phrases: passionate leadership and tireless involvement. His commitme
nt to local community, his passion for volunteering and his leadership across so many organizations make him an outstanding honoree for Citizen of the Year.”
