A bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax briefly forced an evacuation of Wal-Mart, 300 Keller St., on Sept. 30.

Members of the Manchester Police Department responded to Wal-Martย at aboutย 7:47 p.m. and were told that anย unidentified male had called the store and claimed to have placed a bomb in the store.

The manager of the store called for anย evacuation as a precautionary measure. Multiple officers assisted in the evacuation whileย continuing the investigation. Ultimately, they were able to identify a potential caller, who they believeย to be a mentally challenged juvenile from outside of the City of Manchester. The juvenileย will most likely not be charged for false public alarm, which is a felony level offense.

The threat caused the store to close for approximately 30 minutes. Manchester Police determined the threat was a hoax, so the store reopened for business at approximately 8:20 p.m.. It is unknown howย much revenue was lost during the brief closure.
