MANCHESTER, NH – Officers responded to a burglary in progress call in the 100 block of North Adams Street around 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 23. One of the residents stated an unknown man broke into her home, so she confronted him and engaged in a brief struggle.
Later in the day the Union Leader confirmed that the victim was former Webster Elementary School principal Sarah Lynch.
A white male, unknown height and weight with a “scruffy beard,” last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a Patriots hat allegedly assaulted Lynch before fleeing the home.
It is unknown if her assailant fled on foot or in a vehicle.
Lynch reported to police that she was choked by the burglar with his hands and also with an electrical cord. She was taken to Elliot Hospital where she was treated for her injuries, and released.
A police K-9 track came up negative, so if anyone in the area observed a male matching the description, please contact the Manchester Police Detective Unit and reference MPD Case # 19-1084. The investigation is ongoing, so no additional information is available at this time.
