Merrimack Superior Court Judge Amy Ignatius will decide “quickly” whether a recount of a contentious House race can proceed, she said Monday, after hearing arguments from the state and lawyers representing the candidates.
Candidates in the state had a Monday deadline to request a recount of the Nov. 8 election results, and over 30 took advantage of it. The tally available from the Secretary of State’s Office late Monday included 28 New Hampshire House races, two for state Senate, and another for Hillsborough County register of deeds.

The movement around sustainable burials is growing in New Hampshire, but there’s at least one state law on the books that Nicoll and other advocates say could hamper people’s right to choose how they are buried: a 1971 statute on embalming that Nicoll is now working to repeal with the help of her state representative, Jerry Knirk, a Freedom Democrat.
