Everything ends up at the top and it does wear on you, and it affects you,” says Fire Chief Dan Goonan. “I’m kind of an emotional guy and so it gets to me, constantly asking myself what could I have done to prevent certain things, or what could I have done differently. I’ll tell you, fire chief mental health is real.”
