There is NO way this bill will get a fair hearing. This kind of manipulation (forming special taxpayer-funded lobbying groups and committees) is typical of Sununu and his developer cronies after they fail to pass unsavory bills the normal way.
The legislature is coming at NH with numerous Republican-sponsored bills that would “urbanize” the state faster than Joe Biden and Kamala Harris can revive Obama’s AFFH.
The Governor’s plan, which he announced in conjunction with Democrats on October 30 of this year, is shored up by two LSRs (HB 1629 and HB 1632). One bill would make zoning for low-income or high-density housing mandatory while forcing zoning and planning boards to accept training in the philosophy of “new urbanism” — an internationally-bred fad that has invaded the country. The other bill would give more tax breaks to developers for building specific types of projects.

Governor Sununu, by his failure to act to VETO SB 241 in a timely manner, has allowed the bill to pass without his signature.
Governor Sununu always makes a bill deal about “no new taxes”. But wait, what’s this we see hidden in the budget?
Governor Sununu has said, and still knows, that this commuter rail deal would be the worst boondoggle in NH’s history. It is hoped he will use common sense and VETO the whole thing before it destroys us.
You can write to the House Public Works and Highways Committee and ask, who voted yes… as we need to know who to blame for this travesty when it fails to deliver.
Please let the House of Representatives and the Governor know that considering the failures of commuter rail in almost every other state where it has been tried, you do not support it.
This dangerous provision must be stopped. If allowed to be included, it would be a blatant power grab and a direct attack on every municipality’s right to direct its own future. It nullifies the vote of the people.
