Fisher Cats center fielder Cam Eden played a ball off the wall on Wednesday night that had inside the park home run written all over it. The top of the brick wall has a bevel to it just to the right of dead center. Eden played the pinball perfectly, holding the batter to a double.
The Manchester Memorial Girl Crusaders played a solid second half at Chabot-McDonough Field last night but it wasn’t enough to dent the three-goal deficit of the first half. The scoreless second half actually provided more offense from the Crusaders and the Salem Blue Devils.
The Grizzlies were up 8-0 when play was halted in an aggressive but clean game. Wilkinson’s injury was blameless as was the one to Memorial’s Jenna LaBerge in the first half when she got spiked on the left hip and was down for several minutes.

Two games do not a season make, but this appears to be a very good Bedford High School Girls’ soccer team. After shutting out Central 5-0 is their season opener, they were dominant in all aspects of the game on Tuesday night in beating Manchester Memorial 8-0.
Despite the score, Memorial turned in a solid defensive effort. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the lack of subs only became obvious deep into the second half. This is also a Memorial team that graduated 10 seniors last year, according to Coach Nick Gardner.
