A five-sentence pitch to recruit police officers, posted Tuesday on the Manchester Police Department’s Facebook page, was removed hours later by the police chief after it caused a brouhaha on social “qualified media because it described “qualified immunity” a unique benefit offered by the department.

New Hampshire remains among the top five states with the highest rate of opioid-involved deaths, according to the National Institutes of Health.  Through July 14, 2021, there have been 118 confirmed drug deaths, with another 96 pending toxicology. The vast majority – 93 – of the confirmed deaths involved fentanyl alone or fentanyl combined with other drugs, according to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.

Alderman-at-Large Joe Levasseur is suing the Manchester police Department for not giving him a copy of a video recording of an interview with a parking enforcement officer, with whom Levasseur had a dispute last January, because it was recorded on an officer’s body-worn camera, which the city maintains is exempt under the Right-to-Know law.
