A Hillsborough County Superior Court North jury deliberated all day Monday without deciding the guilt or innocence of Bradley Asbury, a former Youth Development Center house leader, of holding down a 14-year-old boy while two other staffers raped him 26 years ago on a stairwell at the state-operated juvenile detention facility.

Michael Gilpatrick was a 14-year-old scrawny kid when in the late 1990s he was held down and gang raped on a staircase landing at the Youth Development Center by counselors who were supposed to protect him, according to testimony Tuesday in Hillsborough County Superior Court Northern District.

Tom Puskarich who operates Restoration Café at 235 Hanover St., said one of the unintended consequences of the city’s decision to prevent the homeless from camping in city parks and on sidewalks is that they are gravitating to areas where they are vacant, privately owned buildings.  And that, he said, has affected his business.
