The service offers an opportunity for friends, relatives, and members of the community to pay their respects. A list of the names, birth and death years, and known hometowns of the 25 individuals whose remains are unclaimed, is provided in the hope that someone may recognize a name and attend the Mass or make alternative arrangements for a final resting place within the family.

The Phaneuf Family Foundation’s 501(c)(3) board of directors announced on Wednesday that Betsy Ann Pelletier of Community Hospice House in Merrimack as its first Caregiver Superstar of the Year. The announcement was made earlier today at an annual professional caregiver event, hosted by Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium.

Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, December 29 from 3-7 p.m. at the Phaneuf Funeral Home & Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 30 at 10 a.m. in The Blessed Sacrament Parish, 14 Elm Street, Manchester. Interment to take place in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum following the mass. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.

Alex Hewitt was an active member of Rimmon Heights neighborhood group. He spent many hours helping people and animals in his community. He has had many rescue pets and most recently loved his cat, Prince. In addition to volunteering, he was an avid reader and student of anything that interested him.

Both Phaneuf and CNSH have already encountered the first families who have chosen to postpone, modify or cancel services due to the outbreak. Their teams are working closely with families to determine what’s most appropriate, considering a family’s particular circumstances. The CDC recommends no public gatherings of 50+ people for the next eight weeks, so Phaneuf is encouraging small, private or immediate-family-only services for the time being.

A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Saturday March 14 from 2 – 4 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance and Sharing to follow at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NH Special Olympics.
