The Monadnock Region is bringing special attention to cultural diversity in the month of September, 2022. To support the Keene International Festival on September 24th, area businesses and nonprofits are working on a collaborative celebration of Diversity in the 603. Organized by Keene Immigrant and Refugee Partnership (KIRP) and Project Home, and the Historical Society of Cheshire County this celebration will include photographs, stories, presentations, and conversations that will bring understanding and welcome to our new American neighbors.

Over 150 students, mostly learners of French, German, and Spanish, have signed up so far. While some language programs for the day are already full, professors at UNH Manchester and UNH Durham are hoping to meet students who have experience in American Sign Language, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, and Russian. Teachers of these languages are encouraged to enroll their students in the programs offered during the November 16 festivities.

On October 5 at 6 p.m., the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire will host Kevin Cassidy, Director and Representative to the Bretton Woods and Multilateral Organizations at the International Labour Organization (ILO), for a discussion on how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals are driving organizations to rethink the employer-employee relationship.

Boston University has announced that Richard (Rik) Cornell of Manchester, NH will receive the Outstanding Career in Social Work Award this fall in recognition of his 49-year career at the Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester (MHCGM) and in community mental health advocacy. The Outstanding Career in Social Work Award acknowledges and honors a Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) graduate who, throughout their career, has consistently demonstrated exceptional contributions to the profession and the community at large.

This funding will be used to extend ApprenticeshipNH, a CCSNH workforce initiative, through developing a hub infrastructure in four key regions that encompass the state, for ongoing sustainability and to support and expand Registered Apprenticeship programs in new industries and occupations. CCSNH is the only organization in New Hampshire to receive funding.
