Cat rescued from Falls Ave. fire

Description of Incident: At approximately 3:25 p.m. on May 26 Fire Dispatch started  receiving calls for a building fire on Falls Avenue in Manchester.

Companies arrived to  heavy smoke coming from the front window of a 12-unit apartment building. The Battalion Chief  received reports that everyone in the affected area of the building had vacated. 

Crews stretched a line and entered the apartment finding the kitchen area was fully involved.  The rescue crew as well as other companies searched the apartment and cleared the entire  building of occupants.

Firefighters were able to locate a cat and bring it to safety to the homeowner who was at the scene.

The fire is under investigation, but at this time there is nothing to indicate it as suspicious. It appears it was a possible malfunction of an appliance.

The fire was quickly knocked down, and overhaul of the room was  completed. Under control was issued and companies were released from the scene .
