MANCHESTER, NH – John Kalantzis, 38, of Manchester was arrested April 27, accused of committing a series of armed robberies across several jurisdictions, including Manchester, Goffstown, Milford and Auburn.
Manchester became involved in the investigation following an armed robbery at 6 p.m. on April 27 at Mammoth Road Convenience, 10 Mammoth Road after Kalantizis allegedly entered the store armed with a large kitchen knife while demanding cash.
The modus operandi of the Mammoth Road robbery matched the previous three robberies in Goffstown, Milford and Auburn, so Manchester Police believed the same individual(s) were involved in the area crime spree. A witness happened to be in the parking lot of Mammoth Road Convenience when the robbery occurred and was able to provide police with a vehicle description and license plate.
The vehicle used, a gray 2011 Toyota Camry, matched the description of the vehicle believed to be used in the previous out-of-town robberies. Officer Cody Healy of the Patrol Division located the vehicle at approximately 6:45 p.m. outside of 371 Manchester Street. The vehicle was occupied by two men.
Officer Healy conducted an investigation and identified the operator as Michael Crawford, 45, Mount Vernon, and the passenger as Kalantzis. Police Detectives arrived on scene and assisted in the investigation. Detectives determined the two men were allegedly involved in the other robberies and are currently working collaboratively with the aforementioned police departments.
Kalantzis was charged with armed robbery and felon in possession of a dangerous weapon. He was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester April 28. He was also placed on a 72 hour hold for probation/parole.
The investigation is ongoing and charges may be forthcoming for Crawford, police said.
