City man charged with possession of $10,500-worth of heroin

MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ A city man was arrested Oct. 27, charged with possession of more than $10,000 in heroin, the equivalent of 1,500 individual “hits,” according to police.

Members of the Manchester Police Special Enforcement Division, along with New Hampshire State Police Narcotics Unit, were conducting a drug investigation involving Elmer Torres, 35, of Manchester. On Tuesday night detectives gathered intelligence indicating Torres was allegedly bringing a large amount of heroin into the city while operating a 2005 Acura, and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle near Valley West Way at about 5:40 p.m. on the cityโ€™s West Side.

Detectives located approximately 300 grams (30 โ€œfingersโ€) of heroin worth an estimated street value of $10,500. They essentially removed 1,500 individual โ€œhitsโ€ of heroin from the street with this one arrest. Torres was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, conspiracy to commit the sale of a controlled drug and was also placed on a hold for probation/parole.
