City man clocked by state police doing 138 mph in a 65 mph zone

HOPKINTON, NH โ€” A Manchester man was arrested by NH State Police on May 3, charged with reckless endangerment based on the following narrative:

At 10:46ย a.m. Trooper First Class Sean Faherty of the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was monitoring traffic from the State Police aircraft on I-89 northbound in the Town of Hopkinton.ย  Trooperย Faherty observed a vehicle traveling at what he determined to be an extremely high rate of speed, andย clocked the driver at 138ย mph in the posted 65 mph speed zone.ย 

Trooperย Faherty radioed to Trooper First Class Charles George, who pulled over the 2009 Infiniti G37 driven by Jonathan Azar, 27, of Manchester.ย 

Azarย was charged with reckless driving and is scheduled to appearย in the Concord District Court to answer to this charge on June 24, 2016.

The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly uses the State Police aircraft ย to monitorย commuter traffic during certain times, includingย holiday travel times, with the goal of keeping New Hampshireโ€™s roadways safe for all residents and visitors.
