There were 18 suspected opioid deaths in Nashua and Manchester in February. That is the most suspected opioid deaths in a one-month period for Nashua and Manchester combined since tracking began in 2015. There were 13 suspected opioid OD deaths in Manchester and 5 in Nashua during February. Almost all of those deaths remain in a pending toxicology status but are highly suspected to involve opioids.

On Tuesday, Mayor Joyce Craig delivered her Fiscal Year 2024 budget address presenting a budget that falls below the tax cap. Manchester’s FY24 tax cap is 4.96%, however Mayor Craig’s budget is far less at 3.37%. Mayor Craig’s budget provides $8.1 million in additional property tax revenue, with approximately $2.5 million allocated to the City and $5.6 million allocated to Manchester School District.

In an 11-9 vote last month, the House Judiciary Committee voted to retain HB 396, a bill that sought to allow, but not require, public organizations, primarily school districts and correctional facilities, usage of biological gender as the criterion for access to gender-specific places such as bathrooms, locker rooms or prisons.

Upon declaration of a Snow Emergency, any vehicle parked on the streets will be towed and impounded. Vehicles parked in the downtown district are not subject to towing until after 1 a.m. Look for the blinking strobe lights placed at various intersections throughout the City or call the Highway Department at (603) 624-6444 with any questions.
