The Granite YMCA held an awards ceremony last month during which volunteers, community supporters, donors, and employees gathered to recognize and celebrate the many accomplishments of The Granite YMCA over the past year.
The Granite YMCA was recently awarded $1 Million Dollars in grant funding by Hillsborough County. The award is part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding from which the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners has approved $12,419,645 to area non-profits.
“In my experience, removing obstacles and creating an environment that is welcoming to everyone is the first step in creating a community wherein everyone grows and thrives,” Jené Riley said. “I am honored to represent the YMCA of Downtown Manchester in our efforts to strengthen social integration, education, and health promotion for everyone.”
At this time, The Granite YMCA is evaluating opportunities and ways to engage membership with virtual and home-based wellness options.
YMCA STAY, offered at Parkside, Hillside, McLaughlin, and Southside middle schools, provides direct and indirect services to more than 100 at-risk students who may need additional help to be successful in school due to a variety of factors. The program provides a broad range of services including academic support, mentoring, time management, and healthy behaviors and aids the ongoing efforts to provide a strong and healthy foundation for Manchester youth and teens.
