MANCHESTER, NH โ Area residents are encouraged to break a sweat for a good cause on Sunday November 15 when the Granite YMCA will host a special event in support of its LiveStrong program.
ย โSpin, Swim and Shimmy for LiveStrong at the YMCAโ takes place at the Yโs downtown location, 30 Mechanic Street, from 9 a.m. โ 12 p.m.

Thanks to a major grant from the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation and other supporters, the Y first introduced LiveStrong last fall.ย The program, which provides a broad range of support for those living with, through and beyond cancer, has served nearly 100 patients in its first year in the Granite YMCAโs downtown and Londonderry locations.
โLiveStrong is a proven program which is having a lasting positive impact on cancer patients and their families,โ says Leslee Stewart, Vice President of Development at the Granite YMCA. โThis special fundraiser will enable us to further expand our program to serve additional patients.โ
Participants can enroll as individuals or teams and compete in a fun and challenging event which features Zumba, Stationary Cycling, or Lap Swimming.ย Individuals are asked to raise or contribute a minimum of $200, while teams of three are asked to raise $600.ย All participants will receive a goody-bag, dri-fit shirt and snacks; prizes will be awarded to the top three teams and individuals.ย โIt really is fitness for a cause,โ Stewart said.
