Andy Crews, President and CEO of AutoFair Automotive Group, has been named the Chair of this year’s Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) Annual Dinner and Citizen of the Year Celebration to be held on April 20, 2017 at the Radisson Hotel.
Frank Wells has been named the new Chairman of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. In addition, six new members were elected to the Board of Directors.
Keynote speaker Karl Dean, former mayor of Nashville, a city nationally recognized for economic growth.
The Hilton Garden Inn of Manchester presented the Friends of the Manchester Mounted Patrol with a donation of $2,000 on July 12 to help care for and outfit the mounted unit’s two horses.

The bill is the product of a bi-partisan study committee held last summer and overwhelming bipartisan support throughout the legislative process in both the House and Senate. Just last week, House and Senate negotiators reached final agreement on HB 1697, setting the stage for today’s vote. HB 1697 now moves to the Governor for consideration.
Andy’s most recent endeavor may be his most inspirational, helping to lead the development of Manchester’s first home for integrated drug treatment and recovery. “The [recovery] center will be a game changer and it will be the difference that our community desperately needs and would not have been possible without the leadership and dedication of Andy Crews,” said Mayor Ted Gatsas.
The GMCC will announce the 2015 Citizen of the Year honoree prior to the Annual Dinner. This year’s dinner will be held on April 14, 2016 at the Radisson Hotel, Manchester. Since 1954, the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce has presented one outstanding individual with the Citizen of the Year award. This outstanding group of individuals has been paramount in shaping the local community through the history of Manchester and the region. The Citizen of the Year award recognizes an individual with outstanding leadership and citizenship in the community, while demonstrating exemplary vision, civic pride and commitment to the betterment of society.
“As we continue our work to keep our communities healthy and to combat the heroin and opioid crisis facing our state, we must also confront other threats to the safety and well-being of our people.”
Candidates will discuss what it would look like if they hosted a party. When guests arrive for the event, the candidate’s curated musical selections will be playing, and they will talk about what they would serve for food and drinks, who their co-host might be, their choice of activities for their get together (board games, sports on TV, etc.), what their guest list would look like, and topics of conversation with their guests.
The breakfast forum is set for Sept. 23. Cost is $25 for members/$35 for non-members.
Attendees are welcome to bring a bag lunch or you can purchase lunch from Ipswich Clambake, Ben & Jerry’s and JD’s Tavern. There will be a free yoga class, from 12 -1 p.m. that is open to all, presented by Yoga Balance. Max from the Manchester Monarchs will also be bringing some fun and games.

The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce recently joined together to advocate for the NH Senate to restore funding in the Governor’s budget that would allow the State to continue pursuing passenger rail in southern NH along the Capitol Corridor.

The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce will host three of the State’s top economic experts at its annual Economic Forecast Luncheon. The event will take place September 30 at 11:30 a.m. at the Derryfield Country Club at 625 Mammoth Road in Manchester. Lunch will be served from 11:30-12:00 and the program will take place from 12:00-1:30.
