The Palace Theatres’ Kitchen Tour, presented with additional support from Granite State Cabinetry, will return for its 19th year on May 31.
Rock of Ages sings out like you are at your favorite 1980’s rock concert. The exciting thing about local theatre is that it is indeed local. Barely two degrees of separation and celebration.
For years, the Silver Stars of the Palace Theatre have been a familiar and beloved presence on the Hanover Street stage, delighting audiences with annual revue-style performances that showcase song, dance, and camaraderie among performers age 55 and older.
This season, they are doing something entirely new.
Having seen a few productions at the Palace, including an incredible performance of “A Christmas Carol,” my wife and I decided that we will be purchasing a membership so that we can enjoy more live shows along with the perks. This has gotten me thinking about how live theatre is perceived among young people, particularly the price. The big unknown to many in GenZ is why theatre tickets cost what they do, and why they are significantly more expensive than a movie ticket. The question then becomes, “why not just see the movie?”
Now Through December 28th, 2025 come celebrate the holiday season as the Palace Theatre tradition continues with Charles Dickens’ classic story of Scrooge and Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol.
Acclaimed vocal artist and breast cancer survivor Jenene Caramielo on Oct. 9 will perform a tribute to Celine Dion at the Palace Theatre.
During a musical presentation last week, Jacyn Tremblay, representing the Music Drives Us foundation, said the delivery of the instruments helps fulfill the organization’s mission to “spread the love” by keeping music in schools and local communities throughout New England.
So naturally I couldn’t wait to see the Palace Theatre’s production of JCS – which opened on a weekend when I was out of town, so I actually did have to wait. But it was worth the wait – and I urge you to get a ticket to one of the last nine shows before closing night on May 11.
Now, surround yourself with a group of theatre enthusiasts (who also love Jimmy Buffet songs) and, when that particular refrain comes up during the final number of Act 1 during “Escape to Margaritaville,” you will find yourself yelling, “Salt, salt, salt,” into the ether without a care in the world, all of you bopping and swaying to the familiar soundtrack of the Palace Theatre’s current production.

Along the way, I became mesmerized by Peter Ramsey’s passionate love for this professional theatre inside New Hampshire’s largest city and what it means to him to be able to share his infectious excitement with everyone.
