MANCHESTER, NH โ Next up in the Currier Museum’s Side Door Music Series is Upstate Rubdown, a unique use of the city’s premiere art space, bringing talented musicians from across the globe to the Currier Museum of Art.
Upstate Rubdownย is an acoustic septet drawing inspiration from every corner (and decade) of Americaโs musical heritage. Based in New Yorkโs Hudson Valley region, the band has spent years cultivating its sound, and continues to grow by the tune. The instrumentation includes Harry DโAgostino on upright bass, Ryan Chappell on mandolin, Dean Mahoney on cajรณn, and Christian Joao on flute and alto/baritone saxophone. The dynamic rhythm section supports a three part vocal harmony powerhouse of founding members Mary Kenney and Melanie Glenn with recent Nashville-transplant Allison Olender.

Opening act isย Honeysuckle,ย a progressive folk act that blends older influences and traditional instrumentation with modern effects and inspiration.ย Honeysuckle has performed at Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza and CMJ, was chosen as a Converse Rubber Tracks artist, and has been nominated for Best Folk Artist of the Year, and Best Americana Artist of the Year three years in a row at the annual Boston Music Awards.
