MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ Demolition of what remained of the Hunt Memorial Pool is underway, which the city expects to take about three weeks.

Hunt Memorial Pool was permanently closed in 2021 due to system failures and safety concerns. In 2022, with input from the community, Manchester Parks & Rec completed a conceptual plan for renovation of the entirety of Sheehan-Basquil Park.

It includes:

  • Replacement swimming pool and bathhouse
  • Soccer field at location of unused baseball diamonds
  • Renovation of concession building
  • Improved walkways and lighting
  • Renovation of the park monument and flag pole

“The Public Works Department continues to pursue funding for the full build out of the project. However, we have secured funding for the new soccer field and are in the process of procuring its installation. Completion date is to be determined, but the goal is fall of 2026,” according to Owen Friend-Gray, Deputy Public Works Director.
