DERRY, NH โ€“ย Derry police on Monday announced that they have positively identified a woman whose body was discovered Monday afternoon behind a Birch Street business. Her name was no yet released, pending notification of family, police said.

That announcement came a few hours after they released an initial press release seeking the public’s help in identifying the woman.

On October 27, 2025, at 1:25 p.m. Derry Police Department received a report of a possibly deceased person near the construction site behind a business at 71 Birch Street. Responding officers found an unidentified white female at the base of an embankment, lying on the edge of the retention pond behind the business. She was deceased.

Investigators located video from a few days earlier that showed the woman walking to the area. She was alone and appeared to be ill or impaired. As she walked past the retention pond she stumbled and fell, landing near the pond where she passed away. Her location was not easily visible from the nearby driveway or business. Workers discovered her today while landscaping the area.

The woman is described as a white female, approximately 45-50 years of age with dark blond hair slightly longer than shoulder length. She was wearing a black sweatshirt and mid-thigh length skirt with a floral print design and gray sneakers. She was not carrying a purse, cell phone or ID.

While the investigation is on-going there is no indication at this time of foul play. Derry Police are seeking assistance in identifying the woman. Anyone who may have information regarding her identity is asked to contact Derry Police at 603-432-6111.
