Tax bills are due semi-annually and they are comprised of four components.
- Town Taxes – Approved by the Town Council, an increase of 2.7%. The Town
operates under a tax cap, and provisions in the Town Charter allowed for an
increase up to 3.5%. - Local Education Tax – An increase of 1.2%; this budget is separate from the
Town, recommended by the School Board and approved by the voters during the
March annual elections. This budget includes Pinkerton tuition costs for Derry
students. - State Education Tax – Down 0.9%. Despite its title, the state education tax is
assessed and collected locally, and expended for Derry Schools. - County Tax – Up 5.1%, the overall County tax burden is divided among all
communities in Rockingham County based upon each community’s assessed
valuation.
