PORTLAND, Maine – On Monday, the Eastern League named New Hampshire Fisher Cats Second Baseman Santiago Espinal as the latest Eastern League Player of the Week.
Espinal hit .400 (10-for-25) over the past week, including a career-high 6 RBI performance against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Wednesday that was highlighted by a grand slam.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was the last Fisher Cat to record six RBI in a game, doing so on April 9, 2018.
Espinal also scored three runs and added another RBI during the week, leading the league in total bases and hits between April 15 and 21.
The 24-year-old Dominican Republic native enters this week on a seven-game hitting streak
Espinal was a Red Sox 10th round draft pick in 2016, and was traded to the Blue Jays organization for Steve Pearce last June.
