MANCHESTER, NH โย Experience two nights of classic rock at the Palace, with Roger McGuinn on May 12 and Mike Girard on May 14.
McGuinn, co-founder of โThe Byrdsโ will whisk you away with his smooth folk music, while Girard โ co-founder of โThe Foolsโ โ has assembled an unconventional big band as part of โMike Girardโs Big Swinging Thing.โ

Inspired by the musical styles of Elvis, the Beatles, and country music, McGuinn began to play the guitar at age 14, creating melodies of these three different styles of music. Well-known for the hits โTurn, Turn, Turn,โ โEight Miles High,โ and โMr. Tambourine Man,โ with The Byrds throughout the 1960s and ’70s, McGuinn has been playing this smooth style of folk-rock music for decades.
The creation of the Folk Den Project 20 years ago continues this tradition. His preservation of folk music is compounded by his signature 12-string Rickenbacker guitar, and together they emit an iconic sound that will take you back to a familiar place, while transporting you to his evolutionary style as a contemporary artist.
You get two days to recuperate before dusting off your dancing shoes and returning May 14 for a night of big horns and great music as Mike Girardโs โBig Swinging Thingโ takes the Palace stage by storm.

Girard has put together a new band similar to โThe Fools,โ but with a twist: instead of the four to five piece rock band, Girard has gathered together some of New Englandโs best horn players to create a 20-piece grandstand band. Complete with back-up duo, โThe Jewelsโ and former Fools members Rich Bartlett, Joe Holaday, and Jim Taft, Girardโs band is a guaranteed fun night out.
Playing some of their own hits like “Night Out” and “Psycho Chicken,” the swing band also puts its signature spin on hits by Frank Sinatra, AC/DC, Tom Jones, Jonny Cash, The Stones, The Animals, and Green Day, an extensive set listย sure to have every foot in audience tapping.
Ticket prices for Roger McGuinn range from $30.50 to $60.50. Tickets for Mike Girard start at $25.00. Both are available by calling 603.668.5588 or visiting the Box Office located on 80 Hanover Street in Manchester, N.H or online at www.palacetheatre.org.
