MANCHESTER, N.H. โ€“ Following fires earlier this month on Prospect Street, Amherst Street, Grove Street and elsewhere in the city, the Manchester Fire Department held a presentation and discussion on fire preparedness, prevention and safety last week at the Manchester Community Resource Center.

Ward 5 Alderman Jason Bonilla, who co-hosted the event along with the Manchester Fire Department and the Ward 5 Community Council, felt that the event was a success and was pleased with the turnout of elected officials, first responders and local residents talking about fire safety.

Community members said they really appreciated insights on fire prevention and fire safety,โ€ he said. โ€œIt was great to be in a space where residents could have the opportunity for open dialogue and answers to their questions from our Chief of Fire, our Fire Marshall, and our amazing Risk Reduction Coordinator at the Fire Department!โ€

Manchester Fire Department Chief Ryan Cashin held similar sentiments.

“It is always a privilege to spend some time in the community talking about fire safety. Every fire we can prevent is a chance to save a life,” Cashin said.

The discussion can be seen in full on the Manchester Public Television website.
