MANCHESTER, NH โ€“ Over the past few weeks, the sports world awaited to hear from LeBron James and see where he would be playing next season. There were plenty of teams looking to procure his services, including the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

In a jovial collection of tweets posted last week, the Fisher Cats parodied NBA free agency season, predicting that basketball stars would soon be coming to New Hampshire to join the Fisher Catsโ€™ prospect โ€œsuper team.โ€

Tyler Murray, Broadcasting and Media Relations Manager for the Fisher Cats, saw the tweet as an extension of the franchiseโ€™s mission to entertain Granite State sports fans at the ballpark and beyond.

The team used LeBron in a tweet shortly before Game 1 of the NBA finals joking around about the ubiquitous commentary that top Blue Jays prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is set to leave New Hampshire for Toronto already, eventually leading to the recent set of tweets.

The tweets eventually took on a life of their own, making news with a Canadian media outlet.

โ€œWith all the big names in New Hampshire this year — Vlad Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, etc. — you start to hear the term “Super Team” thrown around,โ€ says Murray. โ€œThat’s where we made the connection to LeBron, Durant and the NBA.โ€

Murray says that numerous fans believe he join Vlad in eventually getting the callup to a major league teamโ€™s social media account, telling them that canโ€™t dream of leaving New Hampshire.

โ€œInteracting with fans is one of the best parts of our job, and it’s been especially fun this season,โ€ says Murray. โ€œThere’s a lot of excitement around this team, and we want to give the people what they want — highlights, photos,ย and witty banter.โ€
