MANCHESTER, NH — As a way of saying a big “thank you” to its legion of New Hampshire fans, Recycled Percussion is planning a free concert Jan. 10 at the Home Depot on March Avenue at noon.
Just bring yourselves; Recycled Percussion will bring the noise!
The “junk rock” band known for its outrageous and acrobatic percussive use of unusual objects to make raucous music, was first formed in 1995 by Justin Spencer of Manchester, for a high school talent show. The band’s big break came in 2009 when they competed on TV reality show America’s Got Talent. Although they didn’t win, it was enough to catapult them into the musical stratosphere.
More than 20 years later, the band continues to enjoy international success, and takes its world tour on the road, banging on anything that can be hit with drum stick (or a power tool), far and wide (including an annual Christmastime gig at the Palace Theatre.)
According to an update on the band’s Facebook page, Home Depot will be ind0or-show central. A DIY stage is being built inside using materials from the home-improvement aisle, and the band will also be shooting a video (“so bring your TV face”).
