MANCHESTER, NH – Come out for an unexpected evening of contemporary art appreciation as the work of furniture designer Vivian Beer is featuring during a week-long exhibition July 18-25 at The Annex at Glass and Gear, Langer Place, 55 South Commercial St., 4th Floor.
This is the inaugural art and design show at The Annex.
Beer’s sculptural aesthetic defies gravity and ignites the imagination. Her sleek, abstracted metal and concrete furniture celebrate the history of American industry, architecture, and transportation, based in part on research Beer did as a 2014 Research Fellow at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
Her work is included in collections at the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Brooklyn Museum, public art for Portland, ME, and Cambridge, MA. Beer earned her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and was a resident artist at SUNY Purchase, SDSU and Penland School in North Carolina. This summer she will be a research fellow at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum studying the history of American aeronautical design as an inspiration for her next series of furniture.
This one-week event will be an unprecedented chance to experience a comprehensive review of Beer’s diverse series of work in an intimate setting.
“I wanted to create a temporary exhibit space properly highlighting New Hampshire’s contemporary/fine artists. This is a rare chance to get close and experience the artist and their creations. We are so very proud to be opening the ANNEX Fine Art Series with contemporary artist Vivian Beer,” said Robert Daniel, owner of The ANNEX at Glass and Gear, a professional private studio and production space in the millyard.

July 18: Opening Night Artist’s Reception 7 – 9 p.m. followed by gala
July 19-24: Exhibit hours are from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Meetings with Vivian by appointment July 25: Closing Night Party (RSVP only) 8 – 11 p.m.
