MANCHESTER, N.H. — On Wednesday, Nov. 19, Elliot Health System hosted its annual Employee Appreciation, Turkey Distribution, and Community Coat and Food Drive on the Elliot Hospital campus. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., employees, providers, and volunteers participated in a day of gratitude and benefit to local charities. Elliot employees, medical staff, and volunteers also received a free turkey in appreciation for all they do to care for patients, families, and the communities Elliot Health System serves. All Elliot Health System employees and volunteers had an opportunity to take part in a food drive, clothing drive, and a final gesture of giving – donating 1,238 turkeys in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
“As the largest nonprofit health system in New Hampshire’s southern region, Elliot Health System takes great pride in serving our community with compassion and purpose. As a community-focused care delivery system, our annual turkey giveaway and community items drive reflects the core of our mission to inspire wellness and heal our patients while serving with compassion. This tradition allows us to extend our impact beyond the clinical setting by collaborating with local organizations that are also dedicated to supporting those in need this holiday season. We are deeply grateful to our employees, board members, providers, and volunteers whose generosity makes this annual event possible. Elliot Health System remains committed to improving lives throughout the region,” said Dr. Greg Baxter, president and CEO of Elliot Health System.

Elsy Cipriani, executive director of the NH Food Bank said, “We are grateful for another generous donation from Elliot Health System. The contribution of 1,048 turkeys and 879 pounds of canned and non-perishable food will go a long way to support individuals and families in need across New Hampshire.”
Elliot’s simultaneous warm clothing and personal items drive benefitted the Brookside Congregational Church, with hundreds of coats, warm clothing, and accessories in addition to toiletry and other personal items to help replenish two Catie’s Closet locations at Beech Street School and Manchester Central High School. A total of 1,248 turkeys were donated to Bless this Home, Liberty House, Manchester Police Athletic League, NH Food Bank, Roka Kids, and patients and families of the Solinsky Center for Cancer Care at Elliot Hospital.
