MANCHESTER, NH – Mark Ricard, 56, no fixed address, was arrested April 5, charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly damaged a property by throwing a Christmas tree through a window.
At about 4 p.m. police were dispatched to 49 West St. for a report of a disorderly man damaging property on West Street. The man, later identified as Ricard, left the scene before officers arrived. He was located a short distance away on Blaine Street, lying on the side of the riverbank.
Officer Michael DeJoy approached Ricard and noticed blood on both of Ricard’s hands, so he asked Ricard to stand up and speak with him about the incident.
Ricard allegedly refused to walk up from the river’s edge to speak with Officer DeJoy, so Officer DeJoy and another officer trekked down the steep riverbank to retrieve Ricard.
The owner of the West Street property, who identified himself as Josh Burrows, told police a tenant had contacted him about Ricard damaging his property, so he called police to investigate the matter.
Police said Ricard does not live at the property, and it’s unclear why he threw the tree through the window, but his actions caused roughly $500 in damages to the two windows.
He was charged with criminal mischief and appeared April 6 in District Court.
