I can’t vote for any of the candidates

I, like many others in Manchester, have been thinking about the upcoming Mayoral Election.

Here’s what I’ve realized about our supposed choices. Both candidates have been vocal in their opposition to bail reform. Both candidates have plans to arrest and/or fine the homeless for existing in public overnight — or during the day in a manner they don’t like. One candidate is fighting the ACLU for the power to put the Eyes of Big Brother downtown; while her opponent has a plan to make Safe Stations more difficult to use for those seeking help for addiction. Additionally both candidates oppose the legalization of cannabis, both candidates appear to oppose expanding the therapeutic cannabis program and allowing patients to grow their own cannabis – and the mayor even used her position of authority to influence NH Senators to kill homegrow legislation this year.

I have concluded that I can’t vote for either ballot listed candidate. New Hampshire, unlike Nevada, doesn’t list “None of These Candidates” on the ballot. Therefore I am left with the option of casting the ultimate protest vote: a write-in vote for my 11 yr old ginger-kitty Freddie Mac; his twin sister (who along with her brother are loved by the local homeless population) hisses too much to be Mayor, but Fannie Mae would be a welcome addition to the Board of Aldermen.
